Technology and infrastructure lead the German-listed selection
AIXTRON leads the selection with a 66.09% trailing free-cash-flow margin, followed by Deutsche Börse at 40.52%, Scout 24 at 35.01%, IBU-tec at 34.76% and ATOSS at 34.24%. These ratios measure reported cash conversion after productive cash investment; customer advances and working-capital movements can make them much higher than operating-profit margins.
The expanded screen contains 50 small, mid and large German-listed operating companies. Twenty-two exceed 15%; the final cutoff is 7.31%. Candidates came from several API capitalization tranches and web research, with annual and interim statements used for the financial calculations. This is a verified selection, not an exhaustive ranking of every German-listed issuer.

The 50-company free-cash-flow screen
Companies are ranked from highest to lowest trailing free-cash-flow-to-sales margin. Swipe or scroll horizontally to view every column.
YTD uses December 30, 2025, the last Xetra session of 2025, to October 30, 2026. Five-year returns use October 29, 2021 to October 30, 2026. API adjusted quotations are used when both endpoints exist; complete Yahoo adjusted histories fill gaps. Current prices are checked against dated web history. N/A means no comparable quoted baseline. Returns are cumulative source-adjusted quotation returns, not a uniform reinvested-dividend total return.
Regular yield uses ordinary cash paid in the trailing twelve months through October 30, 2026, divided by the snapshot price. Bijou Brigitte, IVU and RATIONAL special components and QIAGEN capital repayments are excluded. Future payments are excluded. QIAGEN’s ordinary USD dividend uses snapshot EUR/USD for an indicative consistent-currency yield.
FCF/Sales = (reported operating cash flow after cash tax − gross productive cash PP&E and separately classified intangible/software/development/license investment) / reported revenue. Business combinations and financial investments are excluded; asset-sale proceeds and grants are not netted against gross purchases. Annual plus current interim/YTD less comparable prior interim/YTD reconstructs the latest complete matched period available by November 2, 2026. The 50-name selection has a 7.31% cutoff; 22 names exceed 15%.
EBIT/Interest uses statutory operating profit divided by gross interest where separately available. ~ identifies a disclosed cash-interest or broader gross-finance-cost proxy, or a current-debt estimate; calculations and sources are in the Python comments. Negative operating profits are retained. Interest and lease classification affect comparability; SAP reports operating cash before cash interest from 2025. P/E is trailing reported earnings, not forward consensus; N/M means non-positive earnings. Cap is EUR, with M/B for millions/billions. Valuation and cap use at most one decimal.
Business models and capital requirements shape cash conversion
Software subscriptions and digital marketplaces can generate cash with limited physical investment, but capitalized software and development still matter. Including gross productive intangible cash reduces Elmos to 12.55%; correcting Masterflex’s half-year investment reduces its margin to 7.89%. Acquisition spending and financial investments are excluded.
AIXTRON, IBU-tec and Siemens Energy illustrate how customer funding or working capital can support current cash generation. IBU-tec, CLIQ and BioNTech retain negative statutory operating profit despite positive FCF. Deutsche Börse uses net revenue including its treasury result; clearing-client principal is not sales.
Financing and lease obligations require context
EBIT/Interest uses statutory operating profit and gross interest where separately reported. Negative coverage is retained. A tilde identifies a disclosed cash-interest or broader financing-cost proxy, or an explicit estimate; these figures are not identical to contractual debt-service coverage.
CLIQ, DMG MORI AG and Mensch und Maschine use current borrowing or lease liabilities at an assumed 6% annual cost where consistent interim gross interest is unavailable. These estimates do not reconstruct actual trailing interest. SAP presents cash interest outside operating cash flow from 2025; lease principal remains financing cash flow under this screen.
Regular dividends provide a cleaner income comparison
Regular yield counts ordinary cash paid in the twelve months through October 30, 2026, divided by the snapshot German share price. Declared distributions payable after the cutoff are excluded, including CeoTronics’ November 2026 payment.
Bijou Brigitte’s EUR 2.50 special, IVU’s EUR 0.25 special and RATIONAL’s EUR 4.00 special are removed. QIAGEN’s January capital repayment is excluded; its ordinary USD 0.35 July dividend is translated consistently for the EUR quote. Paid trailing yield is historical, not a forecast.
Valuation and company structure require context
Trailing P/E and EUR market capitalization remain in separate columns, with at most one decimal. N/M means non-positive trailing reported earnings. IONOS and RENK have no five-year quoted baseline. Some issuers have newer income updates without complete capital-spending disclosures; the latest complete matched cash-flow period is used.
Conventional banks, insurers, client funds, REITs, duplicate classes and stale primary listings are excluded. German primary or dual-primary operating issuers include Fabasoft, QIAGEN, Befesa and Verve. Siemens consolidates Healthineers, and United Internet consolidates IONOS, so these entries overlap economically.
Cash-flow quality matters more than a single ratio
Free cash flow can be influenced by working-capital timing, acquisition accounting, capitalized development, stock-based compensation and cyclical pricing. A high current margin should be reconciled with the cash-flow statement and compared across several periods.
The strongest candidates are not simply those with the highest percentage. They are businesses able to sustain cash generation, fund necessary investment and allocate the remaining cash without weakening their competitive position.
